An active ingredient is any ingredient that provides biologically active or other direct effect in the diagnosis, cure, mitigation, treatment, or prevention of disease or to affect the structure or any function of the body of humans or animals. Active ingredients are the components that trigger the effect you are looking for in medication. They are the part of any medication that produces the intended health effects. A product can have only one active ingredient. Some medication products can contain more than one active ingredient. The traditional word for the active pharmaceutical agent is pharmacon or pharmakon, which originally denoted a magical substance or drug.

Inactive ingredients, also called excipients, are the components that don’t have an effect on you. They might be fillers, flavorings, coatings, or preservatives. Inactive ingredients can help your body absorb and break down the active ingredients so they can work properly. The main excipient that serves as a medium for conveying the active ingredient is usually called the vehicle. In contrast with the active ingredients, the inactive ingredients are usually called excipients in pharmaceutical contexts.

Inert ingredients are substances in addition to the active ingredient(s) that are referred to as inert ingredients or sometimes as inactive ingredients. Inert ingredients are not intended to have any pesticidal activity. They are added to pesticide products for various reasons, such as to help the active ingredient stick to the plant or to improve the products shelf life. The public listing of trade name inert ingredients does not include the composition of trade name inert ingredients, nor products in which they are used.
