When it comes to product details, the order in which information is presented can vary depending on the type of product. Here is how different types of products typically present their information:
-
Food Products: Ingredients are listed in descending order by weight, so the first ingredient listed is always present in the largest amount. If an ingredient makes up less than 5% of the food, it does not have to be listed. Likewise, any compound ingredients that make up less than 5% of the product can just be listed as the compound ingredient rather than all of its own ingredients.
-
Cosmetics: Ingredients must be listed in descending order of predominance, with a few exceptions. For example, ingredients present at a concentration not exceeding 1% may be listed in any order after the listing of the ingredients present at more than 1% in descending order of predominance.
-
COVID-19 Antigen Rapid Test: The instructions for use state that test samples should be collected immediately after collection, but no more than 4 hours after specimen collection. The results are presented as either positive or negative for COVID-19.
-
Pharmaceutical Products: Packaging information includes details of the packaging, information given on the label, product information, and shelf-life. The active pharmaceutical ingredients should remain within their specification limits over the shelf-life of the pharmaceutical product.
Its worth noting that different products may have different requirements for what information needs to be presented and in what order. For example, OSHA provides guidance for hazard classification for manufacturers, importers, and employers, but this is not specific to any one type of product.
