The TV show "Black Bird" is an American true crime drama miniseries that premiered on July 8, 2022, on Apple TV+.

It is based on the 2010 autobiographical novel In with the Devil: a Fallen Hero, a Serial Killer, and a Dangerous Bargain for Redemption by James Keene with Hillel Levin.

The story follows James "Jimmy" Keene, a former promising football star turned criminal, who is sentenced to 10 years in a minimum security prison. He is offered a deal by federal authorities: to enter a maximum-security prison for the criminally insane and befriend suspected serial killer Larry Hall in order to elicit a confession and locate the bodies of several victims. This deal offers him a chance at a fully commuted sentence with no parole conditions.

The series stars Taron Egerton as Jimmy Keene and Paul Walter Hauser as Larry Hall, with an ensemble cast including Sepideh Moafi, Greg Kinnear, and Ray Liotta.

It was developed by Dennis Lehane, who also served as executive producer, with direction by Michaël R. Roskam and others.

"Black Bird" received critical acclaim, particularly for its storytelling and cast performances, and won 2 Primetime Emmy Awards among other nominations and wins.

The miniseries consists of six episodes and is available for streaming on Apple TV+ and Prime Video.
