Turkey left Tripoli to Italy in 1911 by the terms of the Treaty of Lausanne, also called the Treaty of Ouchy, signed on October 18, 1912. This treaty ended the Italo-Turkish War (1911-1912) in which Italy conquered the Turkish provinces of Tripolitania and Cyrenaica (modern Libya). By the treaty, the Ottoman Empire conceded its rights over Tripoli and Cyrenaica to Italy.
