Cats can see colors, but their color vision is limited compared to humans. They primarily see shades of blue and green and can also see some yellow. However, cats cannot effectively see orange; to them, orange likely appears as a dull, grayish, yellow, or brownish tone rather than the vibrant orange humans see. This limited color perception is because cats have dichromatic vision, using only two types of cone cells sensitive to blue and green light, unlike humans who have three types for red, green, and blue. Consequently, red, orange, and some other colors appear dull or grayish to cats.
