- After drinking, alcohol can stay in your system for many hours; some experts suggest waiting at least the rest of the day (up to about 24 hours) after heavy drinking before taking ibuprofen, especially if you are still feeling intoxicated.
When to be extra cautious
- Talk to a doctor or pharmacist before combining ibuprofen and alcohol if you:
- Have a history of ulcers, stomach bleeding, or GERD.
