To promote a character in Deep Rock Galactic, follow these steps:

1. Reach Level 25 with the class you want to promote. Each class has a maximum level of 25.
2. After reaching level 25, a promotion assignment unlocks for that class. This assignment consists of completing four class-specific missions.
3. Complete the promotion assignment missions. These vary by class and can often overlap between classes.
4. Once you finish the assignment, go to the Memorial Hall in the Space Rig.
5. At the back of the Memorial Hall, find the promotion terminal where you can promote your class.
6. Confirm promotion. Your character's level resets to 1, but you keep certain class-specific items and gain new benefits.

Benefits of the first promotion include:

• An Honor Badge and a fancy new border to showcase your rank.
• An additional active perk slot.
• Access to machine events.
• New assignments, Deep Dives, and The Forge.

Additional promotions provide only cosmetic rewards and matrix cores. There are 18 promotion ranks with divisions like Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, and Legendary. Promotion acts like a prestige system, letting you showcase your dedication and unlock new endgame content while resetting your level progression for the class promotion cycle to continue.

This promotion system applies separately to each of the four classes: Engineer, Gunner, Driller, and Scout.
