Deep State UA is a non-governmental, volunteer-led organization that created DeepStateMap.Live, an interactive open-source intelligence map tracking the military operations of the Russian and Ukrainian armies during the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Founded in February 2020 by Roman Pohorily and Ruslan Mykula, it began by posting global news and politics content and then shifted focus to Ukrainian-specific news before the 2022 invasion. Deep State UA collects and verifies frontline information from various reliable Ukrainian sources, including the Ministry of Defense and soldiers, to update the map, which shows real-time changes in territorial control and conflict developments. The map is widely recognized and cited by Ukrainian officials, international media, and experts, receiving about 900,000 views daily as of August 2025. Funding comes mainly from public donations with some Ukrainian government support. The organization also operates a Telegram channel and other social media for analysis and updates on the war.
