Jesus did not know the exact time of His return during His earthly ministry. He stated in Matthew 24:36, "No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father." This is understood as Jesus voluntarily restricting His divine knowledge in His human nature as part of His incarnation. Though fully divine, He took on human limitations, humbling Himself and submitting to the Father’s will during His time on earth. After His resurrection and ascension, Jesus now knows the timing of His return.
