Electromagnetic waves can be produced by accelerating electric charges. When charged particles accelerate, they create changing electric and magnetic fields that propagate through space as electromagnetic waves. This principle is the fundamental source of all electromagnetic radiation, whether natural, such as the waves emitted by the Sun, or artificial, such as radio waves generated by antennas. Static charges or charges moving at constant velocity do not produce electromagnetic waves; acceleration of the charge is necessary to generate these waves.
