"When I Come Around" is a song by American rock band Green Day. It is the 10th track on their third studio album, Dookie (1994), and was released as the fourth single from the album in January 1995. The song was inspired by lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong's relationship struggles with his girlfriend at the time, reflecting the tensions of maintaining a long-distance relationship due to frequent touring. The song conveys a sense of reassurance that things might improve when he returns ("when I come around"). It has a verse-chorus structure and is performed in 4/4 time, mostly based on four chords in the key of G flat major. The song became one of Green Day's biggest hits, topping the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart for seven weeks and becoming a top-10 hit in several countries. Its music video was directed by Mark Kohr.
