Aruba is approximately 180 square kilometers (about 69.5 square miles) in total area. It measures around 32 kilometers (20 miles) in length and about 10 kilometers (6 miles) at its widest point, making it roughly the size of Washington, D.C. or about a third the size of New York City's five boroughs combined. The island is relatively flat with its highest point, Mount Jamanota, reaching 188 meters (617 feet) above sea level. Aruba's compact size allows visitors to explore the island easily within a short period.
