Andre Anderson died in Gen V while trying to escape from Elmira prison. He attempted to use his magnetic powers to move a massive steel door to help his friends break out, but due to a medical condition called Neural Micro- Tears—similar to his father Polarity—that caused brain damage each time he used his powers, the overexertion led to a stroke which ultimately killed him. Despite knowing the risks, Andre sacrificed himself to save Emma and Jordan. This event is portrayed as a heroic sacrifice and is also a tribute to the late actor Chance Perdomo who played Andre Anderson.
