Michael Bisping lost the use of his right eye due to a detached retina that occurred during his UFC fight with Vitor Belfort in 2013. The kick Belfort landed caused the retina to detach, and the injury progressively impaired Bisping’s vision in that eye, eventually leaving it functionally blind. He later continued fighting for several years with the prosthetic or glass eye, though the eye remained damaged, and doctors advised retirement after the injury was properly assessed.
