Michelle Trachtenberg died from natural causes related to complications of diabetes mellitus. She was found unconscious and unresponsive in her New York City apartment on February 26, 2025, and was pronounced dead at the scene at age 39. Although her family initially objected to an autopsy for religious reasons, toxicology testing confirmed that diabetes complications were the cause of her sudden death. It was also reported that she had recently undergone a liver transplant, and complications from that may have contributed to her health struggles prior to her passing. There was no suspicion of foul play in her death.
