Payne Stewart, a prominent American golfer, died on October 25, 1999, in a Learjet crash near Mina, South Dakota. The NTSB concluded that the accident was caused by incapacitation of the flight crew due to a loss of cabin pressurization, which led to hypoxia and eventual loss of control as the aircraft continued on autopilot until fuel exhaustion. All six people aboard, including Stewart and the two pilots, were killed.
