Sinead O'Connor's son, Shane O'Connor, passed away by suicide at the age of 17 in January 2022. He went missing from a hospital in Ireland, where he was under suicide watch and being treated for a drug overdose. The inquest revealed that Shane was supposed to be under 24/7 supervised care as a high- risk patient, but this supervision was compromised due to COVID-19 restrictions and staff shortages. Shane's body was found in a secluded area outside Bray, County Wicklow. Sinead O'Connor publicly mourned his death and was deeply affected by the tragedy.
