To apply for food stamps in Missouri, also known as SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits, you have several options
:
- Online:
- Visit the Missouri Department of Social Services website at mydss.mo.gov
* Click on "Apply for SNAP" or "Food Stamp Benefits"
* You can apply online or by printing and filling out a paper application
* You can apply without creating an account, but creating one allows you to easily manage your benefits online if approved
* Fill out the online application form and submit it
- In Person:
- To apply in person, take the completed application to the nearest DSS office
* Find the nearest Family Support Division (FSD) office by using the FSD office locator on the Missouri Department of Social Services website
* Bring all necessary documents such as proof of identity, residence, citizenship or immigration status, income, and expenses
- Mail or Fax:
- Download and print the Missouri SNAP application
* To apply by mail, send the completed SNAP application to:Family Support Division, P.O. Box 2700, Jefferson City, MO 65102
* To apply by fax, fax the completed application to 1-573-526-9400
* If you are unable to print out a form, contact DSS at 1-855-373-4636 to have one mailed to you
* You can also download the application, fill it out, and then upload it or send it by mail to the Family Support Division at PO Box 2700 Jefferson City MO 65102 or fax it to 573 3 526 94
After submitting your application
:
- The Family Support Division will process it and may request additional documentation or an interview
- You may need to participate in a phone interview with a DSS eligibility specialist
- If you need translation services, call 1-855-373-4636 and ask for a translator. Call TTY/TDD 1-800-735-2966/1-800-735-2466 for American Sign Language (ASL)
- Most Missouri SNAP applications are processed within 30 days from the date on your application
- If you have an urgent need for food, you may be able to have your application processed faster
If you are approved for SNAP benefits, you will receive your new EBT card in the mail with a guide on how to use it
