To cancel a DoorDash order, you can follow these steps depending on whether you are a customer or a merchant:
For Customers
- Open the DoorDash app and go to the Orders tab.
- Select the order you want to cancel.
- Tap the Help option in the top right corner.
- Choose Cancel Order and select a reason for cancellation.
- Confirm the cancellation. Refunds typically take up to three business days to process.
- Note: You can only cancel before the order has been sent out for delivery or started being prepared by the restaurant
If you placed the order through a third-party app like Chick-fil-A, you must contact DoorDash Support directly at 1-833-430-1315 to cancel
For Merchants
- On your DoorDash Merchant Tablet, go to the Orders section.
- Tap Issue with Order at the top right of the order screen.
- Select Yes, Cancel this Order and follow prompts.
- You may need to provide a reason for cancellation.
- If you encounter issues, you can also chat with DoorDash support from the tablet

- Canceling an order negatively impacts customer and Dasher experience, so DoorDash monitors cancellation reasons carefully
- Dashers cannot cancel orders but can unassign themselves before pickup, which affects their completion rating and account status
- Refunds for canceled orders are processed through DoorDash as usual
- If you believe you were incorrectly charged for a cancellation, you have 14 days to dispute the charge with DoorDash
