To deactivate your Facebook account temporarily in 2025, follow these steps either on the Facebook mobile app or web browser:

Using the Facebook Mobile App (iOS or Android)

1. Open the Facebook app and tap the menu icon (three horizontal lines) in the bottom right corner.
2. Scroll down and tap Settings & Privacy, then tap Settings.
3. Tap Accounts Center.
4. Select Personal details , then tap Account ownership and control.
5. Tap Deactivation or deletion.
6. Choose the Facebook account you want to deactivate.
7. Select Deactivate account and tap Continue.
8. Enter your Facebook password and tap Continue.
9. Choose a reason for deactivating and tap Continue.
10. Optionally, choose whether to automatically reactivate your account after a set time or keep it deactivated indefinitely.
11. Tap Deactivate My Account to confirm.

Your account will be hidden until you log back in to reactivate it. Messenger can be used separately if you choose

Using a Web Browser

1. Go to your Facebook profile and click your profile icon in the top right.
2. Select Settings & privacy > Settings.
3. Click Accounts Center on the left menu.
4. Select Personal details > Account ownership and control.
5. Click Deactivation or deletion.
6. Select Deactivate account and follow the on-screen instructions to confirm

Deactivating your account is temporary and reversible by logging back in, unlike permanent deletion.
