An Apple Watch indicates it is charging by showing a green lightning bolt icon on the screen once it starts charging. You will also hear a chime if the watch is not in silent mode. If the battery is completely out, a red lightning bolt appears initially and turns green when charging begins. When the watch is in Low Power Mode, the lightning bolt and other icons may appear yellow. Additionally, while charging, the watch goes into Nightstand mode where the date, time, and charging icon are displayed on the screen. The charger’s magnets align the watch and a chime confirms the connection. If the screen stays blank, charging may need some time before the icon appears, or you may press the side button to see the charge status.
