To make Google your default search engine, the steps vary slightly depending on the browser you use. Here are instructions for the most common browsers:
Google Chrome
- Open Chrome.
- Click the three vertical dots in the top-right corner and select Settings.
- Scroll to the Search engine section.
- Click the drop-down next to Search engine used in the address bar and select Google.
- Optionally, go to Manage search engines and remove other search engines to keep only Google as default
Firefox
- Open Firefox.
- Click the three horizontal lines in the top-right corner and select Settings.
- Click the Search tab on the left.
- Under Default Search Engine , choose Google from the drop-down menu
Safari (Mac and iOS)
- On Mac:
- Open Safari.
- Click the magnifying glass icon in the search bar.
- Select Google from the drop-down menu.
- On iPhone/iPad:

- Scroll down and tap Safari.
- Tap Search Engine and select Google
Microsoft Edge
- Open Edge.

- Scroll down to Services and click Address bar and search.
- Click the drop-down next to Search engine used in the address bar and select Google.
- If Google is not listed, perform a search using Google first, then return to this menu to select it
Internet Explorer 8 (older)
- Click Internet options.
- In the General tab, find the Search section and click Settings.
- Select Google and click Set as default
