You update Spotify through your device’s app store or, on desktop, from within the app itself. The exact steps depend on what you’re using.

On iPhone or iPad

• Open the App Store, tap your profile picture (top right), scroll to see pending updates, and tap Update next to Spotify if it appears. If you don’t see it, it’s already up to date.

• To turn on automatic updates so Spotify always stays current, go to Settings → App Store (or iTunes & App Store on older iOS) and enable automatic app updates.

On Android phone or tablet

• Open the Google Play Store, search for “Spotify,” open its app page, and tap Update if the button is there; if you only see Open, you already have the latest version.

• For automatic updates, open the Spotify page in Play Store, tap the three dots in the top-right, and check Enable auto update.

On Windows or Mac desktop app

• When a new version is available, a blue dot appears next to your profile picture in the top-right of the Spotify window. Click that menu and choose “Update available. Restart now.” to install it.

• If you suspect something’s wrong or the app seems outdated, completely reinstalling Spotify from spotify.com or your system’s app store will also give you the latest version.

If nothing seems to update

• Make sure you have a stable internet connection and enough storage space on your device; both can block updates from installing.

• If the app still won’t update, uninstall Spotify, restart your device, and then reinstall it from the official app store, which forces the newest version.
