To play Spoons, follow these steps:
- Gather Materials You'll need a deck of cards, spoons, and at least three players
. Use one fewer spoon than the number of players
- Set Up Have all players sit in a circle around a table or on the ground
. Place the spoons in the center
. Shuffle the cards and deal four cards to each player
. The remaining cards form a draw pile to the dealer's right
- Playing the Game The dealer draws a card, adds it to their hand, and discards a card to the player on their left
. Players pick up the card passed to them, add it to their hand, and discard one to the next player
. The goal is to get four-of-a-kind
- Grab a Spoon Once a player has four-of-a-kind, they can take a spoon from the center
. Once one spoon is taken, anyone can grab for the remaining spoons
. Players don't have to have four-of-a-kind to grab a spoon once another player has taken one
- Elimination The player left without a spoon gets a letter towards spelling out "SPOON"
. Once a player spells "SPOON", they are eliminated
. For each player eliminated, remove one spoon from the center
- Winning The last player who has not been eliminated is the winner
A variation of Spoons involves placing the spoons in another room to add some physical activity to the game
. If you don't have spoons, you can use another object like a marker
