To print screen (take a screenshot) on a Windows PC, you have several common methods:

  • Entire screen screenshot: Press the Windows logo key + PrtScn (Print Screen) key together. This captures the entire screen and automatically saves the screenshot in the Pictures > Screenshots folder
  • Copy entire screen to clipboard: Press the PrtScn key alone. This copies the whole screen image to the clipboard, which you can then paste (Ctrl + V) into an image editor like Paint or a document
  • Active window screenshot: Click the window you want to capture, then press Alt + PrtScn. This copies only the active window to the clipboard for pasting elsewhere
  • Using Snip & Sketch tool: Press Windows key + Shift + S to open the snipping toolbar, then select a rectangular, free-form, window, or full-screen snip. The screenshot is copied to the clipboard and can be edited or saved in the Snip & Sketch app
  • On laptops without a dedicated PrtScn key: You may need to press Fn + Windows key + Space Bar or Fn + PrtScn depending on the model

After capturing, you can paste the screenshot into an image editor or document using Ctrl + V and print it from there if desired. These methods cover most Windows versions including Windows 8, 10, and 11
