Vybz Kartel was in jail for about 13 years. He was initially imprisoned in 2011, convicted in 2014 for murder, and sentenced to life with a minimum of 35 years to serve before parole eligibility. However, in March 2024, his conviction was overturned by the UK Privy Council due to juror misconduct. Subsequently, on July 31, 2024, the Jamaican Court of Appeal decided not to retry the case, and Vybz Kartel was released from prison after serving approximately 13 years.
