An adult human body usually has around 206 bones. At birth, humans have approximately 270 bones, but some fuse together during growth, resulting in the lower adult count. The bones are divided into the axial skeleton (about 67 bones) and the appendicular skeleton (about 126 bones). Some individuals may have slightly different numbers due to anatomical variations or the inclusion of certain small bones like sesamoid bones or ear ossicles, ranging up to about 213 bones in some adults.
