As of September 2025, approximately 147 to 151 countries recognize the State of Palestine. This includes a majority of United Nations member states, representing about 75 to 78 percent of the 193 UN members. Recently, major Western countries including the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and Portugal have formally recognized Palestinian statehood, contributing to this total. More countries such as France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Malta, Andorra, and San Marino have announced plans to recognize Palestine soon, particularly at the 2025 United Nations General Assembly.
