Property analysts such as Hometrack have separately estimated “about 58,500” UK properties worth over £2 million in earlier years, while other firms like Savills have suggested higher numbers as prices rose, pushing the likely current total into the low hundreds of thousands rather than tens of thousands. Taken together with the government’s “under 1%” figure, a reasonable present‑day estimate is that roughly two to three hundred thousand UK homes are worth more than £2 million.
