A typical Little League game consists of six innings. This applies to most divisions and includes the Little League World Series games. The game may be shortened by a mercy or run rule if one team has a large lead, and if extra innings are needed, they begin after the sixth inning. For example, the home team does not bat in the bottom of the sixth if they are leading, meaning the game can end after five and a half innings in that case. Also, a game is considered official after four innings (or three and a half if the home team is ahead) if called early due to weather or other circumstances.
