There are six Nobel Prize categories: Physics, Chemistry, Physiology or Medicine, Literature, Peace, and Economic Sciences. The original five categories were specified in Alfred Nobel's will, and the sixth, the Prize in Economic Sciences, was established later by Sweden's central bank. These prizes are awarded annually to individuals or groups for outstanding contributions in these fields.
