Each passenger is allowed to carry liquids, gels, and aerosols in travel-size containers that are 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) or less in carry-on luggage
. These items must fit into one quart-sized, clear, zip-top bag
. Keep in mind:
- Each passenger, including children, is entitled to this allowance
- Medically necessary liquids, baby formula, and breast milk are exceptions to this rule, but you should declare them to a TSA agent during screening
- Liquids purchased at the airport after security are not subject to these restrictions
- TSA may scrutinize separately and may submit items for additional noninvasive testing
- The TSA officer has the final say regarding whether an item is permitted through the checkpoint
