Israel has released nearly 2,000 Palestinian prisoners as part of a ceasefire deal in October 2025. This release includes about 1,718 detainees from Gaza arrested during the conflict, mostly held without formal charges, and approximately 250 prisoners serving long sentences, including life terms for serious offenses. Of these, 96 long-term prisoners were released into the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and Gaza, while 154 were deported to Egypt. The releases are part of an agreement linked to the freeing of Israeli hostages held by Hamas in Gaza.
