There are eight planets in our solar system. These are Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. Pluto, once considered the ninth planet, was reclassified as a dwarf planet in 2006 by the International Astronomical Union because it does not clear its orbit of other debris.

In addition to these eight planets, there are five officially recognized dwarf planets, including Pluto, Ceres, Haumea, Makemake, and Eris.
