The Ryder Cup is won by the team that first surpasses 14.5 points out of a total of 28 available points in the competition. Each match is worth one point, and matches that end in a tie award each team half a point. The team to reach at least 14.5 points wins the Ryder Cup; if the match ends in a 14-14 tie, the team that currently holds the Cup retains it.
