The Philippines is currently divided into 18 regions as of June 30, 2024. These regions are grouped into the three main island groups:

• Luzon: 8 regions (Regions I, II, III, IV-A, V, plus CAR, NCR, and MIMAROPA)
• Visayas: 4 regions (Regions VI, VII, VIII, and Negros Island Region)
• Mindanao: 6 regions (Regions IX, X, XI, XII, XIII, and BARMM)

These regions serve primarily administrative purposes and are not local government units themselves
