Uranus has 13 known rings in total. These rings are categorized into three groups: nine narrow main rings, two fainter dusty rings, and two outer rings. The rings are mostly dark and narrow, composed primarily of water ice mixed with some dark radiation-processed organics. The rings were first discovered in 1977, with additional rings found by Voyager 2 in 1986 and the Hubble Space Telescope in the early 2000s.
