Most adults have 32 permanent teeth in total. These include:
- 8 incisors
- 4 canines
- 8 premolars
- 12 molars (including 4 wisdom teeth)
Children, on the other hand, have 20 primary (baby) teeth, which are eventually replaced by the permanent teeth as they grow
. The full set of adult teeth usually erupts by the late teens or early twenties, although wisdom teeth may appear between ages 17 and 22 and sometimes are removed due to lack of space or other dental issues
