As of 2023, India has 8 Union Territories. These are:

• Andaman and Nicobar Islands
• Chandigarh
• Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu (merged into one UT in 2020)
• Delhi
• Jammu and Kashmir
• Ladakh
• Lakshadweep
• Puducherry

This configuration came into effect after the bifurcation of the former state of Jammu and Kashmir into two Union Territories—Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh—on October 31, 2019, and the merger of Dadra and Nagar Haveli with Daman and Diu on January 26, 2020
