Camels weigh differently depending on their species.
- Dromedary camels (one hump) typically weigh between 880 to 1,520 pounds (400 to 690 kg) for males and 660 to 1,190 pounds (300 to 540 kg) for females. They stand about 6 to 6.5 feet tall at the shoulder.
- Bactrian camels (two humps) weigh between approximately 1,320 to 2,200 pounds (600 to 1,000 kg) when fully grown, with a shoulder height of about 6 feet.
Therefore, camels generally range from about 600 to 1,520 pounds (300 to 1,000 kg), depending on species and sex. The Bactrian is usually larger and heavier than the dromedary.
