For a standard 9-inch pumpkin pie, a good starting point is about 1½ teaspoons of pumpkin pie spice mixed into the filling.
If your recipe already lists separate spices (like cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg), you can:
- Add up the total amount of all those spices and use the same total amount of pumpkin pie spice instead (1:1 swap).
- If you like a stronger spice flavor, you can increase the total by about ¼–½ teaspoon, tasting the filling before adding eggs.
