To use AirDrop to share files between Apple devices like iPhone, iPad, or Mac, follow these steps:

How to Turn On AirDrop

On iPhone or iPad:

  1. Open Control Center:
    • On iPhones with Face ID or iPads: Swipe down from the top-right corner.
    • On iPhones with a Home button: Swipe up from the bottom edge.
  2. Press and hold the network settings box (where Wi-Fi and Bluetooth icons are).
  3. Tap the AirDrop icon.
  4. Choose either Contacts Only (only your contacts can see your device) or Everyone (all nearby Apple devices can see your device temporarily)

On Mac:

  1. Open a Finder window.
  2. Click AirDrop in the sidebar.
  3. At the bottom of the AirDrop window, select Contacts Only or Everyone.
  4. Ensure Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are enabled on your Mac and the receiving device

How to AirDrop Files

  1. Open the app with the item you want to share (Photos, Files, etc.).
  2. Select the file(s) or photo(s).
  3. Tap the Share button (a square with an arrow pointing up).
  4. Tap the AirDrop icon.
  5. Choose the nearby device or contact you want to send to from the list.
  6. The recipient will get a prompt to Accept or Decline the file.
  7. Once accepted, the file transfers quickly over a private Wi-Fi connection without using the internet

Important Tips

  • Both devices must have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth turned on.
  • Personal Hotspot must be turned off on both devices.
  • If the recipient’s AirDrop is set to Contacts Only , you must be in their contacts with your Apple ID email or phone number saved.
  • If you are not in their contacts, ask them to set AirDrop to Everyone temporarily to receive your file

This method works for sharing photos, videos, documents, contacts, and more between Apple devices quickly and securely without internet usage
