To AirDrop photos from your iPhone, follow these steps
:
- Ensure that the person you're sending to is nearby and within Bluetooth and Wi-Fi range, and that both you and the recipient have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth turned on. If either of you has Personal Hotspot on, turn it off
- Check that the recipient's AirDrop is set to receive from "Everyone" or "Contacts Only"
. If they have it set to "Contacts Only" and you're in their contacts, they need to have your Apple ID's email or mobile number in your contact card for AirDrop to work
- Open the Photos app and select the photo(s) you want to share
- Tap the Share button
- Tap the AirDrop button
. If a red numbered badge appears on the AirDrop button, it means multiple devices are nearby
- Select the AirDrop user you want to share with
. If the person is in your contacts and you're both using iOS 17, you can bring your iPhones near each other and tap Share
- The recipient can tap "Accept" or "Decline" when they see a preview of the AirDrop
. If they accept, the photos will appear in their Photos app
AirDrop sends files quickly between Apple devices without using the internet or mobile data
. It uses Bluetooth to connect and Wi-Fi to transfer the file
