To block a phone number, the exact steps depend on your phone type and operating system. Here are common methods for iPhone and Android phones:
On iPhone
- Open the Phone app and go to Recents. Tap the info (i) icon next to the number you want to block, scroll down, and tap Block Caller.
- Alternatively, open the Messages app, open the conversation, tap the contact at the top, scroll down, and tap Block Caller.
- You can also block from FaceTime by tapping the info icon next to the contact and selecting Block Caller.
- Another way is through Settings : go to Settings > Phone > Blocked Contacts > Add New, then select the contact or enter the number to block.
- When blocked, calls go to voicemail without notification, texts are not delivered, and the blocked party is not notified
On Samsung Galaxy (Android)
- Open the Phone app, tap the three-dot menu, then Settings > Block numbers. Enter the number to block and tap Add.
- You can also block from Recents or Contacts by selecting the number/contact, tapping More or the menu, and choosing Block contact.
- In the Samsung Messages app, touch and hold the conversation, tap More > Block, and confirm.
- To manage blocked numbers, go to Messages > More options > Settings > Block numbers and spam.
- To unblock, reverse the process by removing the number from the blocked list
On Other Android Phones
- Open the Phone app, go to Recents , tap the number, then tap Block or Block number.
- You can add numbers manually to the blocked list in the phone app settings under Block numbers.
- Blocking prevents calls and texts from the blocked number
Additional Tips
- Register your number on the National Do Not Call Registry to reduce telemarketing calls.
- Use third-party call-blocking apps like Robokiller or Nomorobo for advanced spam blocking
These methods ensure unwanted calls and messages are blocked effectively without notifying the caller.
