To block someone on WhatsApp, you can follow these straightforward steps depending on your device and preference:
Blocking via Chat
- Open WhatsApp and go to the chat with the person you want to block.
- Tap the contact's name at the top of the chat to open their profile.
- Scroll down and tap Block.
- Confirm by tapping Block again.
This will stop the contact from sending you messages, calling you, or seeing your status updates
Blocking via Settings
For Android:
- Open WhatsApp.
- Tap the three vertical dots in the top right corner.
- Select Settings > Account > Privacy > Blocked contacts.
- Tap the Add icon (usually a plus sign) in the top right corner.
- Select the contact you want to block.
For iOS:
- Open WhatsApp.
- Tap Settings in the bottom right.
- Go to Account > Privacy > Blocked.
- Tap Add New and select the contact to block
Additional Notes
- Blocking someone does not delete the chat, but you can delete or archive it if you wish.
- You cannot block entire groups, but you can exit groups and block the group admin.
- If you want to unblock someone later, you can do so from the same privacy settings.
- You can also block unknown numbers directly from the chat or notification if you receive a message from them
Blocking someone effectively prevents them from contacting you on WhatsApp without notifying them explicitly.
