To clean out a candle jar, there are several methods you can use, including:

  1. Freezer Method: Place the candle jar in the freezer overnight. The next day, use a butter knife to lift the wax out of the jar. It should easily pop out in one piece! Wash the jar in the dishwasher to finish cleaning it.

  2. Boiling Water Method: Pour boiling water into the candle jar to melt the leftover wax. Let the water cool, then remove the floating wax at the surface. You can also soak the candle jar in warm water for 30 minutes—this will release the wax from the sides of the jar. Once the wax is removed, clean the jar with hot, soapy water.

  3. Oven Method: Preheat your oven to 200 degrees Fahrenheit. Place the candle jar on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil and put it in the oven for 15-20 minutes. The wax will melt and pool on the foil. Remove the jar from the oven and let it cool. Once the wax has hardened, you can remove it from the foil and discard it. Clean the jar with hot, soapy water.

  4. Hairdryer Method: Put your hairdryer on the highest setting and apply concentrated heat to the area of wax in the jar that needs to be removed. As the wax shrinks, use a butter knife to remove any pieces that are released from the glass jar. Continue until all excess wax is removed, and then wash the candle jar.

  5. Rubbing Alcohol Method: Use a paper towel soaked with rubbing alcohol to scrub the remaining adhesives off the container. Clean the inside of the candle with hot water and dish soap.

After removing the wax, clean the jar with hot, soapy water. There may be some residue left, but a good cleaning with warm water and soap should be all that you need.
