To close apps on an iPhone 13, follow these steps:
- Swipe up from the bottom edge of the screen to about the middle and pause briefly. This opens the App Switcher, showing all your currently open apps as cards.
- Find the app you want to close by swiping left or right through the app cards.
- Swipe up on the app card you want to close, flicking it off the top of the screen. This action force closes the app.
- Repeat for any other apps you want to close.
- When finished, tap on the screen or swipe down to return to the Home Screen.
You can also use multiple fingers to swipe up and close several apps simultaneously if desired
. Note that iOS manages apps efficiently in the background, so you only need to close apps if they are unresponsive or glitchy. Regularly closing apps can actually slow down your phone and reduce battery life because apps have to reload fully when reopened
