To delete a WhatsApp group permanently, you need to be the group admin and follow these steps:
- Open the WhatsApp group you want to delete.
- Tap on the group name to open group info.
- Remove all participants one by one by selecting each participant and tapping "Remove" (there is no bulk remove option).
- After removing all participants, scroll down and tap "Exit Group."
- Once you exit, tap the group name again and you will see the option "Delete Group."
- Tap "Delete Group" and confirm to permanently delete the group.
This process removes the group for all members and deletes the chat history from your WhatsApp
. If you are just a member and not an admin, you cannot delete the group for everyone. You can only leave the group and then delete it from your chat list:
- Open the group chat.
- Tap the group name.
- Scroll down and tap "Leave Group," then confirm.
- After leaving, long-press the group chat in your chat list and tap "Delete" to remove it from your chats.
This will remove the group from your device but the group will continue to exist for other members
. In summary, only admins can delete a WhatsApp group for everyone by removing all participants and then exiting and deleting the group. Members can only leave and delete the group from their own chat list.
