To deposit a check on Chime using their mobile app, follow these steps:
- Prepare the Check
- Make sure the name on the check exactly matches the name on your Chime account.
- Sign the back of the check. Some checks may require a restrictive endorsement, such as writing “For mobile deposit to Chime account only” as prompted by the app
- Open the Chime App
- Log in to your Chime mobile app.
- Tap Move at the bottom of the screen.
- Then tap Deposit Check or Mobile Check Deposit
- Select Check Type and Enter Amount
- Choose the type of check you want to deposit (personal, business, etc.).
- Enter the exact amount of the check
- Take Photos of the Check
- Follow the in-app instructions to take clear photos of the front and back of the check.
- Place the check on a clean, dark surface with good lighting.
- Ensure all four corners of the check are visible and the camera is focused.
- Smooth out any wrinkles or creases on the check
- Submit and Confirm
- Review the deposit details and confirm the submission.
- The app will provide an estimated timeline for when the funds will be available.
- Keep the physical check until the deposit clears
Additional Notes:
- You can deposit up to $2,000 per check and up to 10 checks per month, with a total monthly limit of $10,000 (some users may have higher limits)
- Funds typically appear within a few minutes to a few business days but can take up to a week if the check is flagged for review or is large
- Once submitted, you cannot cash the check elsewhere
