To apply strikethrough formatting in Microsoft Word, you have several simple methods:
Method 1: Using the Ribbon Toolbar
- Highlight the text you want to strikethrough.
- Go to the Home tab.
- Click the Strikethrough button in the Font group (it looks like "ab" with a line through it).
- The selected text will have a line through its middle
Method 2: Using the Font Dialog Box
- Highlight the text.
- Press Ctrl + D (Windows) or Command + D (Mac) to open the Font dialog box.
- Under the Effects section, check Strikethrough.
- Click OK to apply.
- You can also select Double strikethrough here to add two lines through the text instead of one
Method 3: Keyboard Shortcuts
- On Windows, select the text and press Alt, H, 4 sequentially (press and release each key).
- On Mac, select the text and press Cmd + Shift + X.
- Pressing the shortcut again will remove the strikethrough effect
To remove strikethrough, simply highlight the text and click the strikethrough button again or uncheck the option in the Font dialog box
. These methods allow quick and flexible application of strikethrough for editing, marking completed tasks, or indicating deletions in your Word document.
